ISO 9001:2008 belongs to a family of standard for quality management systems maintained by the International Organization for Standardization and is administered by accreditation and certification bodies worldwide. The objective of the ISO 9001:2008 standard is to achieve assured quality and consistency in all phases of the order and manufacturing process. The standard prescribes formal documentation of procedures, performance measurement and records which can be audited internally and externally. They focus on statements of requirements, prevention and detection of problems, corrective actions, inspection and testing, and monitoring and review.
