Medical and Bio Medical

Because people’s lives can be at stake, OEM takes projects for Medical and Bio-Medical applications very seriously.  While somewhat different than mil spec standards, medical requirements must meet the same rigid standards of toughness and long-term failure-proof reliability. OEM understands this and makes sure our operators and technicians are expertly trained and certified so that we can build medical products rated to J-STD-001 Class III standards.

OEM is registered with the FDA and capable of handling many types of medical device projects.

Reliability of PCB Products
On an as-needed basis, OEM can perform burn-in and vacuum chamber tests on medical electronic and PCB products. OEM will help customers pass tests that include:

  • Burn-in, which subjects PCBs to a variety of different temperature cycles in order to simulate a medical facility and assure that the product will be fully functional.
  • Vacuum chamber testing which subjects the PCB to a range of temperatures from  -40°C to +85°C  and keeps them there for 24 to 48 hour test cycles. They are also put into a non-stop operating mode for periods ranging from 24 to 72 hours. This assures that even in remote locations, where temperatures were not being adjusted, the OEM circuit board will continue to perform.
  • 100% reliability testing that proves  the circuit board can withstand extreme heat or freezing temperatures and still do the job while also uncovering any defects that might be present.

OEM also employs careful planning at the prototype stage to insure reliability by defining and creating Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) procedures at critical stages in product development. We also test using different environmental cycles that check a variety of factors such as voltage cycles, current, temperature and humidity.  We use failure rate analysis to improve reliability and create higher yield.
